-(으)려고

The suffix -(으)려고 indicates a person's intention or plan.

Indicates the purpose or intention of the speaker (we can translate it by -in order to- or -the purpose of-).

• ▸ 친구를 만나려고 시내에 가요.

  I go downtown to meet a friend.

• ▸ 여자친구에게 주려고 꽃을 샀어요.

  I bought some flowers to give to my girlfriend.

• ▸ 돈을 벌려고 일을 해요.

  I work for a living.
