Use

Indicates the possession to join two nouns. (of).

▸ 다니엘의 아버지예요.

He is Daniel’s father.
▸ 제 열쇠예요.

This is my key.
▸ 우리 집이에요.

This is our home.

Grammar tips

- noun + 의 + noun

- 의 is placed after a vowel or a consonant.

Comparison

저기요~

To refer to a group we belong to (family, company, home, country, or school), we use the pronouns 우리 or its respectful form 저희 instead of 저/나. We also use 우리 instead of 제/내 when referring to someone’s family members. And the particle 의 is often omitted.
